Ways to Save Money This Autumn

Ways to Save Money This Autumn

Autumn can be an expensive time of year, you need new clothes for the children, the heating is on and Christmas is just around the corner.

Here are some ways to save some money this autumn:

Join the Slow Cooking Revolution

Invest in a slow cooker not only are they much cheaper the run than an oven but you can buy cheaper cuts of meat which benefit from a slow cooking.

Shin of beef is delicious slow cooked and costs a lot less than other cuts of beef.  You can also bulk meals out with lentils and pulses.

There is nothing better than coming home on a cold day to a warm bowl of stew or soup.  And it’s not just savoury dishes you cook in them, try cakes and puddings as well.  Visit Slow Cooker Queen which is packed full of recipes.

Be Frugal With Your Heating

We don’t mean make your family wear two jumpers and a blanket but be sensible with your usage. Set your central heating on a timer to come on just before you all get up for 30 mins to an hour and again in the evening when you are all due in.

If you need to put the heating on in the day then set a timer somewhere so you don’t have it on all day. Once the room or house in warm enough switch it off.

Make sure windows are shut and keep doors closed to keep the heat in.

Check for draughts around the house and make sure they are blocked so you are not wasting heat.

Turn your thermostat down by 1 degree you can save up to 10% off you fuel bill.

Make the Most of the Sales

Need warmer clothes or want to make a start on your Christmas shopping? There are lots of sales and running at the moment so check them out.

Love Your Local Charity Shop

There is always a bargain to be found in a charity shop. Don’t stick your nose up think of it as vintage shopping!  Not will you be saving money but you will be helping your local charities.  Have a good rummage and see what you can find.
